Dollish Polish - The Seven Levels of the Candy Cane Forest

Hello Everyone!

In holiday spirit, today I have a swatch of The Seven Levels of the Candy Cane Forest by Dollish Polish! This is a glitter packed topper that is full of Christmas Festivities.

Let the swatching begin! :)

For this swatch, I used 1 base coat of Ledi by Julep. For the glitter topper, I used two layers of glitter and then fished out the bows, candy canes, and trees with an orange stick.

The Seven Levels of the Candy Cane Forest has so many different types of glitters! There are red, green and silver triangles, white, silver and green circles, red and white squares, white bows, red and green candy canes, two sizes of stars and holo trees! Its quite ridiculous how much glitter is in this polish. I absolutely love it!

One thing that I did not like about this polish was that it was difficult and impossible to get the larger glitters on the brush. I had to use an orange stick to fish them out, as stated before. I guess I must be spoiled and used to not having to use anything other than the brush to get glitters out. Also, the formula was very thick. I suppose this is so the glitters don't all sink to the bottom. It took some getting used to but I managed. :) I would also like to note that I purchased the mini version of the polish, so this might attribute to not being able to fish out the larger glitters.

Over all, I would buy this polish again! I wish that I bought the bigger bottle, but I do not foresee myself using this polish any other month than December. The glitters in this polish are premium and plenty, so if you are into festive polishes, this is the one for you!

Dollish Polish is an indie polish and therefore is not sold in stores. It can be purchased on its online store here.

Until next time,

Gold and Silver Foil Nail Art

Hello Everyone!

Since I put myself on a nail polish buying freeze, I started investing money into nail art supplies! I've noticed there has been a trend in flakie polishes - specifically gold and silver flakes. There are several polishes like the OPI Gwen Stefani 14k Gold on the market right now. I have even seen some that say they have platinum and silver flakes! Although tempted to purchase these polishes, the prices scare me away. So, I went on eBay to see if I could find some flakes for my own gold and silver nail art!

It was really fun and interesting working with the flakes. The first thing that I noticed was that they are very soft and rip easily. That being said, any sudden movements or gusts of winds will send these metallic flakes flying! My bedroom floor is currently covered in gold and silver because I plopped down too hard on my bed after ripping the flakes, so be careful. I love these flakes and what is neat about them is that it comes in a single sheet. I think that in the future I will use larger pieces across my whole nail for the metallic mirror look.

I was able to find these flakes on eBay for about 4$ total from a Hawaiian seller.

Until next time,

China Glaze Crinkled Chrome Collection

Hello Everyone!

Today, I have swatches from the China Glaze Crinkled Chrome Collection! These polishes have quite the effect because they are a mixture of two different finishes: chrome and texture. At first, I was not sure that I would ever be interested in a polish like this, but I found them on eBay for a good price so figured, why not? As it turns out, I thought this polish was really cool! Chromes tend to dry thin, so the texture is extremely rough (I scratched my leg after swatching and could feel the texture lol). This polish is also more forgiving than a normal chrome because it is not as streaky.

For the following swatches, I used two coats of each shade with no top coat.

First, we have Alluminate. This polish is a silver chrome with line and circle glitters for texture. The application was easy and the dry time was quick, as with most chromes. I love the crinkled aluminum foil look and am already thinking of nail art. :)

Crush Crush Baby is a metallic lavender with the same effect as Alluminate. I wasn't a huge fan of this polish, as I was expecting the purple to be more vibrant.

Last but not least is Iron Out the Details. This shade is an electric baby blue (is that even a thing?). It was my favorite out of the three polishes and I think that it is perfect for winter wear as it reminds me of ice.

A few notes about these polishes:
-They are not sold in stores. I purchased mine from eBay.
-They dry fast!
-They are rough... Rougher than most textured polishes.
-They ARE chromes, so be prepared for them to chip prematurely.
-You will spend most of your day staring at them. :)

Until next time,

Pretty & Polished - Wish Yule Were Here

Hello Everyone!

This post is a sister to a previous entry in regards to Pretty & Polished. I had forgotten to swatch Wish Yule Were Here from their Winter 2014 collection. For this swatch, I layered 2 coats of Wish Yule Were Here over Termo Trio 1 by Dance Legend.

Wish Yule were here is a purple crelly with blue and taupe hexes and circles. As it is a crelly, it becomes opaque in three coats or can be layered on top of a similar base color. The formula is good, but you must be patient when adding coats. This glitter is simply beautiful and quite festive.

Pretty & Polished is not sold in stores but can be purchased from their online store. In fact, after my grandmother urged me to buy this polish for her, I bought two more shades haha! Look forward to those soon, followers!

Until next time,

OPI - Bond Girls Liquid Sand Collection

Hello Everyone!

Today I have swatched three colors from the OPI Bond Girls Liquid Sand Collection. Textured polishes are one of my favorite types of special effects polishes. They are feminine and edgy - best of both worlds! For the following swatches, I used two coats of polish and no top coat.

First up is Honey Ryder. This is a shimmery gold textured polish that is just fantastic irl (in real life). I almost wanted to stop swatching and just call it a day after this one.

Next is Jinx, a coral/orange with golden shimmers. My camera was not a fan of picking up this shade, however, I was floored by this shade. Orange and gold go hand in hand. I typically am not a fan of orange polish against my skin tone, but really liked this one.

Finally, we have Pussy Galore. This shade is a baby pink with silver shimmer. Two coats just barely made it opaque. I love this shade for two reasons: it reminds me of a pink fuzzy sweater and when I hear the name Pussy Galore I think of Angel from RENT breaking a lock with a trash can in drag. (Yes, I love RENT haha!)

My final words on these polishes, I LOVE EM! They're not as textured as I like my sand finishes to be, but the colors are worth the trade.

I found these online via eBay and I am pretty sure they are no longer in stores.

Until next time,

Dance Legend - Termo Trio 1

Hello Everyone!

Today I have swatched a polish that has been on my wishlist for a LONG time! Dance Legend's Termo Trio 1! Color changing polishes are amazing, but this one bumps it up a notch by changing THREE colors! I do not know of any other polish brand that has a polish like this one.

For the below swatches, I used two coats and Out the Door as a top coat. I noticed that without the top coat, this polish dries on the matte side. This polish also has a great dry time.

One thing that was fun about this polish was that it changed colors fairly quickly. I watched the polish change from pink to purple on my nail beds as I went along.

I had to take this last picture while my hands were still wet. As I stated before, the color shifts quickly. Purple is cold, pink is lukewarm, and blue is hot.

I adore this polish and can't wait until I get my stamping plates so I can create a masterpiece! (More on this later!) Dance Legend also has two other Termo Trio's, but I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Dance Legend is a Russian nail polish brand and is not available in stores in the United States.  However, you can purchase it online from the Dance Legend website or from Llarowe. Keep in mind that if you order from their website, the shipment may take long based on your location, as they are based in Russia. I have bought polish from Llarowe without issue and my packages usually arrive within 2 weeks.

Until next time,
